Rafael Carioca torce tornozelo e preocupa

A gente joga no calor, contra o Flamengo, contra ele.

Reforço no caixa!

Aston Villa: Hutton praises Martinez

Aston Villa are having a great season in the Premier League so far and part of this has been done to the signings they bought in the summer. Former Villa defender Alan Hutton has heaped praise on one of these acquisitions.

Hutton raves over Emiliano Martinez

“Confidence, seriously. It is a huge part of it. Obviously in previous teams that I played, we’ve conceded quite a lot of goals, confidence is low, they’ve rotated a lot. One was in for three games, then another one, then a new goalkeeper came in. I think I played with about eight different goalkeepers in eight, nine years so that in itself is not great.

“For him to come in, he’s a calming influence, he’s good with his feet, you can hear him actually talking to his back four, he’s a big guy who comes out and commands his area, catches balls – all these things breed confidence within a group.

“You can see with his performances on the pitch, they’ve been unbelievable, some of the saves he makes. He’s a key part of that Villa squad.”

Martinez is showing his qualityHutton isn’t the first person this season to pile the praise on Martinez and he won’t be the last, with pundit Michael Brown saying: “He’s going so well, he’s got that confidence and it just looks like a brilliant signing.”Indeed his stats show why he has been a “brilliant signing”. In his 21 appearances this season, he has made 75 saves and kept eleven clean sheets (Premier League) – this is the second most clean sheets in the division. The club currently sit in the top ten in the Premier League, and if they win their games in hand they could end up in the top five (SofaScore). The praise he has received is well deserved and with him in between the sticks, the could Villains do the unthinkable and finish in the top six.In other news: Aston Villa fans flocked to this update by Gregg Evans, find out more here.

Wolves must swoop for Liverpool and Belgium striker Divock Origi

With the January transfer window just around the corner, Wolves require added heads and they need to do their business quickly.

Fortunately, the club seem prepared heading into next month.

What’s the word?

Raul Jimenez suffered a fractured skull against Arsenal a few weeks ago and as a result, Wolves are looking for cover in attack.

The likes of Hulk and Kenan Karaman have both been linked but now the rumour mill is set to step up over the coming weeks.

That’s because according to The Athletic, Nuno Santo’s men have a list of more than two dozen strikers they need to whittle down before the window opens.

The same report reveals who one of those targets is – Divock Origi.

Wolves have a long-standing interest in the Liverpool striker and they could finally make their move in January.

The Reds are open to receiving offers for the Belgian international who is currently valued at £14.4m via Transfermarkt.

That being said, Wolves journalist Tim Spiers claims the net is cast wide and mentions loan deals and loan to buy options before permanent acquisitions.

Ideal in the short-term

Origi is used to playing second fiddle at Liverpool and thus, he could relish the opportunity of standing in for Jimenez at Wolves.

After all, the 25-year-old has come up with absolutely massive goals for Jurgen Klopp’s side down the years.

He scored the winner in a Merseyside derby, popped up with a strike against Barcelona in the Champions League at Anfield and then even scored in the final when they beat Tottenham.

This is someone who enjoys the big occasions and would surely flourish when given more game time.

He only has one goal this season but that is hardly a fair reflection considering he’s started just four times.

Described as a “monster” by fellow Belgian Vincent Kompany, he’s also an “outstanding worker in training” according to the former defender.

Certainly, to fit in Wolves system he’d need to hit the ground running but given his work rate, that should be no problem. He is a rangy striker who can hold the ball up but also score goals – he’d be perfect for the Old Gold.

Nuno must be chomping at the bit to bring him to the Midlands.

Leicester: James Justin was solid in 2-2 draw with Man United

Leicester City come away from their latest Premier League match with a single point, having shared the spoils with a resilient Manchester United. The two keep their places in the top four thanks to an entertaining 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium.

Harvey Barnes was on song for the Foxes and they pulled back a late equaliser through an agonising Man United own goal. Whilst it wasn’t enough to bank a win, Brendan Rodgers will be pleased with this result and indeed the majority of his players from this afternoon.

One man he should be particularly proud of is James Justin, who was a driving force down Leicester’s right-hand side.

James Justin vs Man United

The £8,000 per week signing from Luton has been a revelation for Leicester since he made the switch in 2019. He has certainly already won over the manager, after he recently waxed lyrical about his “outstanding” performance against Aston Villa earlier in the year.

According to Sofascore, Justin won 100% of his attempted duels and was successful in 88% of his passes. The defender also once again showcased his ability to balance both attacking and defending contributions. He contributed two key passes and three tackles, linking up well with his team’s forwards but also standing strong at the right of the backline.

Leicester don’t have much time to rest after their battle with up and coming Man United. They will face Crystal Palace in just two days’ time as they vie to keep up their solid form and indeed, their place in this season’s title run.

The Foxes have enjoyed a very promising start to their 2020/21 campaign and Rodgers will continue to rely on the likes of Justin and other versatile, creative players who can catch the opposition off guard.

Spurs reject Marcus Edwards has thrived since his impulsive exit

Tottenham Hotspur reject Marcus Edwards could well be the one that got away.

He’ll always be defined as a player that failed to fulfil his potential in north London, no matter how harsh that may be as it was his manager at the time, Mauricio Pochettino, piled the pressure on him with his remarks.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the ex-Spurs boss said:

“The qualities – it’s only looks, his body and the way that he plays – remember a little bit from the beginning of Messi.

“He’s small, he’s left-footed, I remember a little bit (Erik) Lamela when he was at River Plate, remember he had long hair, when he was 14, 15 years old, there is a lot of videos on YouTube that you can see, that he took the ball, didn’t give a pass and shot straight away.

“He is a very good prospect and potentially he can be a top player, but we need to be patient and tell him that he has a lot of talent, enough talent to be a top player, a great player.”

Although it is Lamela, not Edwards, that still remains at the club.

The young winger only ever featured for 15 minutes in one senior appearance at Spurs yet he’s gone on to prove his worth elsewhere.

Where is Edwards now?

Edwards has thrived in what is undoubtedly the best season of his young career.

In all competitions, the 21-year-old provided nine goals and nine assists from 36 appearances, which includes a strike against arch-rivals Arsenal in the Europa League, and he has since gone on to become one of the first names on the teamsheet for the Primeira Liga outfit.

He averaged a whopping 3.2 dribbles, 1.7 shots and 1.4 key passes per game domestically, so perhaps he’s finally starting to somewhat live up to Pochettino’s great expectations.

Edwards was among the top ten players in the division and as a result, he attracted plenty of interest during the summer transfer window.

Leeds, Manchester United and even Spurs themselves were linked with making a move for the winger in a potential deal that could have cost in excess of €25m (£22.5m).

Vitoria managed to secure Edwards on a free last summer, so they’d have made a hefty profit if he did secure a move away, though clearly he’s proven Spurs wrong as they gave up on him far too early in his career.

They can be thankful, for now, that he’s still in Portugal though if he continues on this upward trajectory, then that asking price could rise tenfold.

Manchester United: Fans react as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer grows frustrated at transfers

Manchester United have only made one transfer so far this transfer window, and it was a very good one as highly rated Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek joined the club from Ajax.

However there seems to be a growing frustration from a lot of supporters of the club that there have not been more signings, especially when it seems like the news on their pursuit on the possible signing of Jadon Sancho varies from positive to negative on a daily basis.

According to Rob Dawson, who works at ESPN, and tweeted out by utdreport, Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to now be in the same boat as supporters of the club. He has been largely accepting of the financial implications that recent events have caused but now he is starting to become annoyed and impatient that deals he thought would happen have not materialised.

With their Premier League season getting underway as they play Crystal Palace at the weekend, all associated with the club will not want any rifts because it could affect the campaign, and hopefully Ed Woodward starts to bring in some more signings to please the manager and the fan base shortly.
