Arsenal implementing philosophy by targeting Karamoko Dembele

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal are in the race to sign Celtic youngster Karamoko Dembele but face stiff competition for his signature.

What’s the word?

Dembele, 16, has been on the scouting list of many top European clubs since the age of 13 after making his debut for the Celtic U20s, per Sky Sports.

Some of Europe’s top clubs including Juventus, Paris-Saint Germain and Borussia Dortmund are all keen to swoop in and secure Dembele as their own.

However, with Arsenal’s connections with Celtic after recently securing a deal for Kieran Tierney, the Gunners are hopeful they can use their strong relationship to come to an agreement for Dembele, according to TEAMtalk.

Dutch legend Ruud Gullit described the youngster as “exceptionally good” after watching a Youtube montage of him in action, per The Independent.

After making his first-team debut for Celtic during their 2-1 win over Hearts in May, Dembele is yet to make another appearance for the Hoops as the youngster patiently awaits his next opportunity.

Youth policy prioritised

Since Unai Emery arrived at the Emirates, his immediate priority has been the promotion and progression of youth players at London Colney. This has been evident with the emergence and regular first-team appearances for Joe Willock, Rob Holding, Reiss Nelson and Bukayo Saka in recent weeks.

Emery’s Sevilla sides of old would often form structures in the midfield that were designed to press the ball without leaving gaps and provide quicker transitions in attack, per Outside of the Boot.

Players like Saka, 18, fit the system with his high work rate and eye for goal, illustrated during both Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt and 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

The manager is identifying players that he believes can work in his unique system and individuals that can come in and play the way that he wants to implement.

With Dembele’s future up in the air, Arsenal fans can feel reassured that their manager is focusing on the next five to 10 years at the club and putting the appropriate foundations in place for the team to benefit going forward. Dembele will be a difficult deal to get over the line.

However, if Arsenal want him, they will likely have to break the bank to get him. It’ll be interesting to see if they put up the funds for someone so young.

Arsenal’s predicted XI to face Bournemouth this weekend

Can Arsenal extend their unbeaten run to eight games against Bournemouth?

That will be what Unai Emery is hoping for at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

He can certainly be happy with his team’s work at the moment. The Gunners have just come off the back of a 4-0 victory against Standard Liege and should be feeling confident as they look towards the Cherries.

Watch the Flying Pig tear into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jesse Lingard following Man Utd’s limp draw with Arsenal in the video below…

Of course, there will be plenty of changes following that Europa League fixture. Here, we try and predict the former Sevilla boss’ starting XI. We reckon there might be as many as seven switches from the side in midweek.

Every time Emiliano Martinez plays, Arsenal seem to keep a clean sheet.

That was once again the case on Thursday. However, with a return to Premier League football next up, Bernd Leno will come in to take his place. One more big mistake from the Germany international though, like the one he made against Tottenham, could see the 27-year-old Argentinian play in the top flight too.

In defence, Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin should start against the Cherries.

Both played the full 90 minutes on Thursday and look close to full fitness after recovering from injuries. David Luiz should return at centre-back, whilst Rob Holding, also back after a long lay-off, should keep his place from the European game.

After playing with three central midfielders in Europe, Emery could use three again.

Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka, the new club captain, should return. Dani Ceballos may also feature following his first goal for Arsenal in midweek.

As part of a 4-3-3 formation, Nicolas Pepe and teen prodigy Bukayo Saka might start on the wings.

Both were rested against the Belgian side and will be looking to impress their manager against Eddie Howe’s team. Pepe, in particular, will be hoping to put recent criticism behind him.

Unsurprisingly, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will return to the side upfront.

It was bizarre that he was brought on late against Standard Liege with the game already won but, either way, he didn’t pick up an injury.

With eight goals in nine matches so far this term, it is clear how much the Gunners rely on him.

Man United star Paul Pogba’s double standard relationship with press slammed

[ad_pod ]Paul Pogba is an easy target. We all know it. The Frenchman can’t seem to go a game in a Manchester United shirt without receiving some form of criticism from either the national press, an army of social media critics or his biggest fan Graeme Souness. Before the current season had even started, the former Liverpool manager was already laying into his foe. Start as you mean to go on and all that jazz. When the Frenchman missed a potentially decisive penalty against Wolves, it was hardly surprised then that his gang of unrelenting witch hunters were out in force. Former United captain Gary Neville called the situation “embarrassing†on Sky Sports Monday Night Football (via Standard).Watch Manchester United Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Ross Barkley missed an equally important spot-kick on Tuesday night in Chelsea’s Champions League tie against Valencia. Much like the Pogba debacle, he snatched the ball from his teammates, who in this case were Willian and Jorginho, and proceeded to balloon his opportunity against the bar. The Blues would go on to lose the game 1-0.

What is different, however, is the backlash; there’s no national media witch hunt or pitchfork-wielding protesters outside his property. Relatively speaking, Barkley has got off lightly. And this is something the pundits over at talkSPORT have noticed…

Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka takes to Twitter after Old Trafford debut

[ad_pod ]#WoodwardinThere’s no telling the difference Aaron Wan-Bissaka has made to Manchester United fans’ well-being. We say that because at least five supporters spontaneously combusted at the end of last season, never to be seen again, after watching Ashley Young – who was heavily criticised in 2018/19 – gradually crumble.Fortunately, there’s a new level of confidence and security that permeates from United’s backline nowadays. Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have already formed a strong enough partnership that may reduce any chance of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling ever suiting up together again, and Wan-Bissaka has singlehandedly saved his full-back counterpart from suffering further abuse at the hands of cyber trolls. What a man.If that wasn’t enough however, the man affectionately known as Spiderman by his teammates because of his abnormally long, dexterous legs helped United secure a rare home clean sheet in their 4-0 drubbing over Frank Lampard’s Chelsea side on Sunday.

Wan-Bissaka took to Twitter to tell fans just how much his Old Trafford debut meant to him…

We wonder if he knows just how important he is to fans?

Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot could surprise people despite Wan-Bissaka arrival

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

Poor old Diogo Dalot. Having arrived from Portuguese giants Porto last summer in a £19m deal, big things were expected of the full-back. So much so that former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho proudly proclaimed the 20-year-old could be a permanent fixture in the side for the next decade.

Fast forward twelve months later, and Dalot is facing down the barrel of having to play second-fiddle to a right-back who is just a year older than him and cost nearly triple the amount he did. Amid all the excitement of Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s arrival at Old Trafford, one man’s future who has been up in the air is Dalot’s.

The indoor football skills in the video below have to be seen to be believed…

Even as a full-back who can play on the both the left and the right, the 20-year-old faces a stiff fight to cement himself in either role following the signing of Wan-Bissaka and the form of Shaw, who won the club’s player of the year award last season.

But Dalot’s attacking qualities and more natural adeptness at going forward may just stand him in good stead – in his debut campaign in English football, Dalot registered 0.9 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.9 crosses per game, despite being predominantly used as a full-back.

The big question of Wan-Bissaka has been whether he can bring much to the table in an offensive role; compared to the Portuguese star’s aforementioned stats, the England U21 international averaged just 0.3 shots, 0.4 key passes and 0.3 crosses per game – a significantly lower amount.

In games where United may be expected to dominate, whether at home or away, Dalot’s greater attacking threat could see him get the nod over the £50m Wan-Bissaka.

Indeed, whilst Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has largely stuck with formations that favour a conventional back four, moving to a system with wing-backs could see Dalot really shine. His energy levels and combination play make him an ideal candidate to bomb up and down the flanks and he could give the side a greater balance.

So whilst United’s summer dealings may have seemingly jeopardised Dalot’s place at the club on first glance, the 20-year-old may yet be the man to take the headlines over his big-money counterpart.

Stan Collymore thinks Manchester United have let Paul Pogba down

[ad_pod ]

In his column for The Mirror, Stan Collymore shared his thoughts on Paul Pogba’s situation at Manchester United.

The former Liverpool ace revealed that he wished he’d studied how his future teammates played before making the move to Anfield, as he struggled without midfielders who would play the ball over the top to him, whilst he also felt that he couldn’t run with the ball due to Steve McManaman’s presence.

Collymore suggested that Pogba may have thought twice about making the move to Old Trafford had he studied his future teammates, but felt the lure of a romantic return in a world-record transfer move may have been too much to turn down.

Could United be in the hunt for an £85m blockbuster signing this summer? Check out the video below…

Yet the Mirror columnist had another point to make; he thinks Pogba has been let down and pointed the finger at the Old Trafford club.

What did Collymore say?

The former Red wrote: “Imagine if Pogba had played with Roy Keane or Patrick Vieira alongside him – he’d be elevated to super world class.

“United have also let Pogba down by failing to sign the player or players who’d bring out the best in him.”

It’s the other way round!

United have let Pogba down? More like the other way round.

The France international made a mockery of the club by falling out with Jose Mourinho last season and then seemingly downing tools until the Portuguese’s departure – this was evidenced when he burst into form in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s early days and looked a completely different player.

The former Juventus man had also talked up a move to Real Madrid midway through the season, and came out yet again just last week to say that he fancied a new challenge ‘somewhere else’ – he has been utterly disrespectful to a club that bends over backwards for him more often than not.

The idea of needing to build around Pogba is nothing new and a common argument whenever top talents don’t perform consistently well. But there’s the other side to that coin too; why isn’t Pogba’s quality – which saw him lift the World Cup with France last summer – getting the best out of those around him?

Pogba is the one who has let United down – on the pitch, in public and behind the scenes.

Celtic: Swooping for left-back Max Lowe can kill two birds with one stone

This summer is shaping up in a lot of ways to be a big one for Celtic. Neil Lennon certainly has his work cut out for him, especially as it looks increasingly likely that they’ll be losing Kieran Tierney to Arsenal in the next few weeks, making the demand for a new left-back even greater when also considering how poor Emilio Izaguirre is.

With that being the case, finding a new left-sided defender is going to be absolutely crucial, which is where these links from The Daily Record come in, as the young Derby defender Max Lowe is being touted with a move to Parkhead after impressing in the 2018/19 season on-loan with Aberdeen.

For those of you who are sceptical that Tierney will leave, it’s time to look at the facts, everywhere you turn the links are there, and with The Scottish Sun reporting that Arsenal are to offer the defender £20m in wages, coupled with The Times reporting that the Gunners have tabled a second bid, things don’t look good.

It could be the case that two new left-backs are needed to fill the Tierney void and give them cover to truly banish the lacklustre Izaguirre who will likely also be on his way in less than a week’s time at the end of his contract. But who better to come in than a young defender who has already experienced Scottish football first-hand as one of the two?

That’s where Derby’s Lowe comes in. The left-back is just 22-years-old yet last season for both Derby and Aberdeen he managed to make 47 appearances in all competitions, where he chipped in with three goals and two assists to aid his team, statistics via Transfermarkt.

The future looks very bright for the youngster wherever he ends up, it’s just up to the Bhoys to ensure that he manages to find his way to Parkhead for the next few seasons to come, and it likely won’t take him long to endear himself to the Hoops if he does manage to get this summer move.

Would you be happy welcoming Max Lowe to Parkhead this summer, Celtic fans? Comment below and let us know!
