Would Brendan Rodgers be a good fit for Leeds?

After a dreadful campaign in the Premier League, Leeds will be hoping that they can follow in the footsteps of Burnley and achieve an instant bounce back to the top flight, so bringing in a manager who can comfortably achieve that will be no easy task for the club's hierarchy.

Whilst it might seem far-fetched that the former Liverpool boss could make a move to Elland Road this summer, it could be an incredible appointment if the 49ers can give the Northern Irishman the freedom to not only bring in some much-needed quality reinforcements but present a project that provides a clear plan for returning to the Premier League.

The 50-year-old manager – who was hailed as "unbelievable" by West Ham striker Michail Antonio – has tallied up a number of honours in his career with two Scottish Premiership league titles and three Scottish league cups earned at Celtic, alongside a monumental FA Cup victory with Leicester City.

One of the most attractive traits that Rodgers boasts is his longevity in managerial positions – with his average term 2.17 years – an attribute that would be massively advantageous to the West Yorkshire club who have suffered constant instability in their appointments since the departure of Marcelo Bielsa.

Indeed, the former Leicester boss struggled in his final weeks and months at the King Power Stadium, however, there is no denying that during the majority of his four-year tenure at the Midlands club he laid vital foundations to continue the success of those before him and competitively challenged in the top half of the table with ease.

With that being said, should the opportunity arise to snap up Rodgers' services this summer it should be a no-brainer for the Leeds hierarchy, as he could make the instant impact needed next season to transform the nightmare that has unfolded at Elland Road in the last few months.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is "ready" to make an offer for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to reports from Italy.

What's the latest Chelsea transfer news?

With both Kepa Arrizibalaga and Edouard Mendy failing to impress, Pochettino is set to target a new goalkeeper this summer, and a shortlist has already been drawn up, with Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez being named as an option.

However, "several other elite sides" are eyeing up the Argentina shot-stopper, meaning the Blues could look at bringing in Brentford's David Raya, with the same report highlighting the Spaniard as a potential target.

Onana has also been linked with a switch to Stamford Bridge, with it recently being reported that Chelsea could table a "very high offer" in the coming weeks, and they are now preparing to test Inter Milan's resolve.

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Pochettino has personally identified the Inter goalkeeper as a priority target, and the manager is planning to table a bid, which would include Mendy plus cash.

The Cameroonian shot-stopper is viewed as one of the best players in his position, and the Chelsea boss is a big fan, so an offer could be made very soon.

Taking to Twitter, journalist Santi Aouna added that the Chelsea boss is "ready" to make a bid for the 27-year-old, but it remains to be seen whether Inter are interested in a swap deal.

Given that he is currently contracted until 2027, Inter have no pressing need to sell their goalkeeper and they can hold out for a large fee, but Pochettino seems determined to bring the £67k-per-week 'keeper to Stamford Bridge.

Considering Inter are in the Champions League final, while Chelsea are unable to offer any European football next season, it could be difficult to attract the 34-time Cameroon international, however he could be an excellent signing if they are able to.

Hailed as a "superstar" by members of the media, there is clear evidence the former Ajax man would be an upgrade on Mendy, averaging a far better save percentage, clean sheet percentage, and fewer goals against per 90 over the past year.

As such, it would be strange if Inter Milan are willing to accept a part-exchange deal, considering it would be a clear downgrade for the Italian club, so Chelsea may need to scrap their idea to use the Senegalese goalkeeper in a swap deal.

Chelsea bringing in Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen would be a statement signing this summer, presenter Terry Flewers has claimed.

New manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly keen to add to Chelsea's strikeforce, after a nightmare of a season in which they scored just 38 times in 38 league games, and the Napoli hitman is of interest.

Osimhen has made himself a hero in Naples, helping his side win a historic Serie A title with 30 goals in 38 games across all competitions this season.

Speaking on The Football Terrace, Flewers highlighted that if Chelsea can sign the 24-year-old, it would be a statement signing for the club having missed out on European qualification in this dismal campaign.

"Chelsea are now ready to sign the Napoli forward Victor Osimhen. That would be a massive statement of intent," he stated.

"Victor Osimhen is the guy that they may chase. Of course, there's links to Harry Kane because of the Pochettino connection, but they're going to explore the option of Victor Osimhen."

Could Chelsea sign Osimhen?

It would be something of a surprise if Osimhen elects to depart Napoli for Chelsea this summer after the contrasting seasons both clubs have had.

Although manager Luciano Spalletti will depart the club, Napoli will be competing in the Champions League as the Italian champions, with Osimhen a key player who has written himself into club history.

Leaving this project to join Chelsea, who are out of Europe, and who are going through a transitional period off the pitch, may not be a move that appeals to the 24-year-old.

Given that Napoli spent a club record fee on Osimhen three years ago, it would take a hefty amount to convince them to part ways with their star player, and Chelsea currently have to sell players in order to meet financial fair play rules.

If Chelsea are able to sell enough players to fund a move for Osimhen, it still remains to be seen whether they can convince the Nigerian to join.

Although they may be able to offer a significantly higher salary than the £91k-per-week he earns in Naples, interest from the likes of Manchester United could be more appealing, and if Osimhen is settled in Italy, he may choose to reject any move this summer.

If he continues his incredible form in front of goal, a big move will still likely be on offer further down the line, and he could have his pick of Europe's biggest clubs. Leaving Napoli for Chelsea now, therefore, seems to be a big risk for the striker, and Chelsea may have to look elsewhere.

Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch is heading into his first summer transfer window in charge of the Premier League club.

The American manager kept the Whites in the top-flight and will now be working with Victor Orta to improve the team with a view to progressing further up the table next term.

One player who has been linked with a switch to Elland Road is RB Salzburg right-back Rasmus Kristensen, with a £10m deal being touted.

The verdict: Much-needed signing

Given the cruel setback suffered to Fabinho ahead of a crucial month for Jurgen Klopp’s side, the timing of the links to Tchouameni couldn’t be more salient.

Predominantly operating as a defensive midfielder, with very strong tackling and aerial ability (WhoScored), the Frenchman would be the perfect candidate to bolster the Anfield ranks as currently there is no natural understudy for Fabinho.

Liverpool must seal a move for Benfica striker Henrique Araújo this summer, as he could be manager Jurgen Klopp’s next Diogo Jota.

According to a recent report from Mexican outlet Mundo Deportivo, the Reds are interested in signing the player but face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City and Spanish giants FC Barcelona.

The 20-year old has produced some impressive performances in Benfica’s youth set-up this season and as a result, has admirers across Europe. He has appeared 34 times this season scoring 17 goals including one for the senior team.

It includes an impressive hat-trick in Benfica’s victory over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Youth League final, which were his first goals in the competition. With that in mind, it’s hardly a surprise that he’s been described as a “poacher” by scout Jacek Kulig, who also hailed his finishing, instinct and movement.

Despite the interest he has received from abroad, Benfica are reluctant to let him go. At such a young age he could have more of an impact on the team and eventually fetch a higher fee if he stays longer. He’s contracted until 2024 so it would take a big offer to get hold of him now.

He is represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes which may be one of the reasons he has been linked to some of Europe’s biggest sides. Liverpool are no stranger to dealing with Mendes, having negotiated a £41m move for Diogo Jota, who is also represented by him, back in 2020.

They could repeat this move by signing Araújo who could learn from his compatriot and work with one of the best managers in the world in Klopp who could transform him into a world star.
